The tragedy of Medusa reflected the persecution of women in ancient Greece. They were persecuted for their natural weakness by men, their physical virtue by religion and because of their beauty they were envy of other women. Medusa got raped by Poseidon, the Neptune, in the Temple of Athena. However, the victim got blamed by Athena and turned into a horrible monster. Athena acted out from jealousy. She was jealous of Medusa’s beauty.
Fortunately, modern sex concept places emphasis on the equality of man and woman in our daily life and men and women are more equal in many aspects than before. But at the same time, some women are oppressed by other women because of their beauty, their talent even their wealthy backgrounds. The war among the women never ends.
