A hero has to suffer to obtain immortality, thatís what the mythology has taught me.
In order to wash away guilt, Hercules is designed and destined to fight with nature, with evil beasts, evil men and also powerful gods. He endured physical torment, as well as mental torment. Tragically he lights himself on the fire and died. Fortunately, he was invited by Zeus to be a god on Mount Olypus.
Maybe it is a happy ending. We can see the ancientsí attitude towards troubles and difficulties, that is we all experience trouble and sufferings in our lives. We have to be through, get through and finally make it. And we can be stronger, tough and capable enough to deal with miseries in life only if we have got over physical and mental torment. Because a hero has to suffer to obtain immortality, so do men.
